Dates to remember – 2016 RRSP Season

To ensure that your clients’ RRSP contributions are applied to 2015, certain dates must be respected.

For regular individual contributions

Advisors must receive contributions no later than February 29, 2016, and must forward them to SSQ by March 1, 2016 at the latest. Postmark dates of March 1, 2016, will serve as proof of mailing.

In cases where advisors do business through an agency, it is the agency’s responsibility to ensure that contributions are received by SSQ no later than March 3, 2016 (February 29 + 3 business days for processing). Please note that documents and cheques must be dated no later than February 29, 2016.

For SSQ RRSP loan applications

Completed SSQ RRSP loan applications must be received by the advisor no later than February 29, 2016. Advisors must fax these applications to SSQ by 11:59 pm February 29, 2016 at the latest. Fax date and time will serve as proof of receipt at SSQ. If the application is incomplete, it will not be possible to apply the contribution toward a 2015 RRSP.
