SSQ Financial Group: A Responsible Company

One year ago, we presented our five-year Sustainable Development and Societal Responsibility (SDSR) Plan at the Annual Meeting.

In keeping with the company's mission, this plan showed SSQ Financial Group's firm intention to contribute to economic development that is responsible, social and respectful of the environment.

After only one year, we are pleased to have achieved such promising results. More than 40 actions have been carried out within the organization highlighting SSQ's contribution to our future as well as to the future of subsequent generations.

 

HERE ARE A FEW OF OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

• Being a thriving company that generates reasonable profits.
• Integrating SDSR criteria into our donation and sponsorship policies and our goods and services procurement policies.
• A $258,000 donation to United Way and a 28% increase in employee donations.
• Our employees’ growing social commitment, namely a 25% increase in employees who received the employer contribution for personal volunteer work.
• Maintaining our Healthy Enterprise—Elite certification.
• Recycling of IT equipment and office supplies.
• Our boards of directors are equipped to hold paperless meetings.
• Employee use of public transportation has increased by 17%.
• Our company car fleet has increased its environmental performance by 5% thanks to our environmental standards.
• Our green document production centre has maintained its FSC®-certification and continues to purchase FSC®-certified paper.

The SDSR Plan was quickly accepted and implemented in the organization, inspired by our mutualist values that place people and social development at the very heart of what we do.

These positive results would not be possible without the mobilization of our employees.
