Social Commitment, a core part of our values

The values passed down from our founder, Dr. Jacques Tremblay and from those who helped shape SSQ’s history for more than 65 years, define us as a socially responsible company.

At SSQ Financial Group, social commitment means taking an active role in the development and well-being of the community. It also means supporting humanitarian and community organizations by funding a variety of projects and supporting our employees who do volunteer work.

 

We believe that commitment also means always doing our best and continually striving to do better to achieve our common goals to provide the best possible service to our clients. We believe that a company’s success can be measured when it helps the community, and it is with that sentiment in mind that we created the SSQ Foundation in 1996. In addition to funding the Foundation, the company still applies the recommendations of the Imagine Canada program today by allocating 1% of its net income to donations. SSQ also supports several organizations through its sponsorship marketing program.

In 2012, we dedicated the SSQ Quebec City Marathon to the cause of severely disabled children by lending our support to the Laura Lémerveil organization to which we gave over $70,000 in raised funds. Furthermore, several SSQ employees took the SSQauto Défi Décalade challenge and raised over $40,000 for the Fondation des pompiers du Québec pour les grands brûlés. We also sponsored the Fondation du Centre jeunesse de Québec golf tournament, an event which raised over $140,000. And last but not least, we made a significant contribution, raised through a number of fundraising initiatives, to the North York food bank in Toronto and Quebec City's Pignon Bleu organization.

 

It just goes to show that we can do business and still have our values in the right place.
