Growth that’s taking SSQ to the top!

The acquisition of the individual life insurance business line in 2012 has strengthened SSQ’s position on the market and expanded its individual insurance and investment and retirement distribution network across Canada.

We are particularly proud of the success of this strategy. With the current low interest rates, which present a formidable challenge for life insurance companies, it is difficult to stand out by means of business growth. But that is exactly what we have done!

 

SSQ INVESTMENT AND RETIREMENT

SSQ Investment and Retirement reached a major milestone in 2012, after many years of steady business development and application of well-defined strategies. SSQ Investment and Retirement is celebrating having reached an important goal in 2012: we hit the $1 billion mark in sales.

This increase in sales is without a doubt the highlight of the year: according to Investor Economics (Insurance Advisory Service, December 2012), the growth rate for net sales of the ASTRA segregated funds in the individual network is the highest in Canada (i.e. net sales in 2012 divided by the assets at the beginning of the year).

 

SSQ INSURANCE

SSQ Insurance’s growth rate has also been promising: in 2012, there was a 60% increase in new business applications. According to the latest LIMRA study*, SSQ Insurance premium growth was ten times greater than that of the Canadian individual life insurance industry in 2012.

These accomplishments illustrate the steady growth reached by SSQ Insurance and SSQ Investment and Retirement and highlight the quality of both our products and our services on the market.

A number of new challenges await the various sales teams under the direction of Marc Trépanier, Vice-President of National Business Development, with the support of Jennifer Hurst, Vice-President of Business Development for Ontario, Western Canada and Atlantic Region.

With more than 10 new recruits recently joining our business development team across the country, including mainly service representatives, our focus on service and customer satisfaction is spreading across Canada through our sales offices in Quebec City, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver!
