Different families of funds to offset market risks

The ASTRA Portfolio Funds available at SSQ are grouped into three families of funds: ASTRA Strategy Funds, ASTRA Celestia Funds and ASTRA Fundamental Portfolio Funds.

Diversification is at the core of each fund's investment strategy and is achieved at several levels:

• by asset class
• by sector
• by region

ASTRA Celestia Funds differ from ASTRA Strategy Funds based on the proportion of specialized investments they contain.

As for the ASTRA Fundamental Portfolio Funds, they differ by their passive management approach with weighting of securities in the indices based on an innovative method that uses fundamentals rather than market capitalization used for common benchmarks.

Different levels of risk

In our portfolio funds, four risk levels are available, from an allocation based on fixed income distribution to an allocation almost entirely composed of equities.

Conservative funds

Designed for conservative investors with strong risk aversion, these funds are invested primarily in Canadian fixed income securities.

Balanced and growth funds

Ideal for investors with a moderate to dynamic risk tolerance, these funds are invested primarily in equities of Canadian, U.S. and international companies. They also invest in Canadian fixed income securities. The proportions of each asset vary according to the desired level of risk.

Aggressive funds

Suitable for investors willing to accept a higher level of risk, these funds are more invested in the equities of Canadian, U.S. and international companies. These funds contain few fixed income securities.

MODIFICATION – ASTRA STRATEGY AND CELESTIA FUNDS

We wish to inform you that on January 31^st changes were made to the composition and allocation of managers of our ASTRA Strategy and ASTRA Celestia Funds. These changes have no impact on investment objectives and strategies of the funds. In the case of non-registered contracts only, certain tax consequences may occur. If this is the case, tax slips will be sent out at the end of the year in accordance with the rules in effect as outlined in the Information Folder.
